A family-owned company will build its new offices, showroom and distribution center in Pflugerville.

A groundbreaking ceremony will take place May 27 for Exaco, an importer and distributor of European greenhouses and gardening products. The 42,100-square-foot building will be located in One Thirty Business Park at 16001 Impact Way. Exaco will move from its North Austin location to the new facility by the end of the year.

Exaco distributes multiple designs of greenhouses, composters, fountains, planters and other gardening supplies. The new offices will feature displays of more than a dozen greenhouses sold and shipped from the facility.

“This project allows Exaco more space, an attractive location for a showroom, and immediate highway access to ensure prompt shipment deliveries,” vice president of sales Andrew Cook said in a press release. “We have been looking for the right location for five years and were excited by the opportunity to work with Pflugerville city planners on our design.”

Exaco president and CEO Kim Cook said she has studied opportunities in Austin and throughout the metro to buy property and build to accommodate their business.

“This is a good location for a lot of reasons for us,” Kim Cook said. “There is such good highway access, and that was good [for distribution] and for our employees.”

Kim Cook said moving out of a smaller building as sales doubled during the pandemic was a goal before their lease ends this year, but finding property for the small company was difficult, especially with the benefits of the Pflugerville location. Exaco’s current 28,000-square-foot location is near the new soccer stadium, which will also undergo a transformation as condominiums and apartments are built in the area, she said.

Plans for the new company were recently approved by Pflugerville’s planning and zoning commission and city council.

“We welcome the headquarters and expanded distribution center for Exaco to the One Thirty Business Park,” said Amy Madison, executive director of the Pflugerville Community Development Corp. in a press release. “Over the past year, PCDC has worked with the company to secure this site and prepare for their first groundbreaking.”

Exaco was founded by the Cooks in 1987.
