The Pflugerville Community Development Corp. will hosts its National Economic Development Week celebration May 4-9, Mayor Victor Gonzales announced at Pflugerville City Council's April 28 meeting. During the announcement, Gonzales acknowledged the work of both PCDC and the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce in supporting area small businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.

PCDC and the Pflugerville chamber, alongside the Pflugerville Economic Development Foundation, Recurrent Energy and Montoya & Monzingo LLP Certified Public Accountants, partnered on April 16 to form the Pflugerville Pfund. The fund was established with approximately $40,000 to assist small businesses affected by the coronavirus outbreak and is continuing to raise funds through the chamber.

“This proclamation recognizes the continued efforts of the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation and the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce for their dedication in creating, retaining, and expanding jobs that facilitate growth and provide a stable tax base," Gonzales said in an April 29 PCDC news release.

National Economic Development Week was developed by the International Economic Development Council as a means of recognizing the roles economic development plays in its communities, according to the release. National Economic Development Week is now in its fifth year, per the release.
