In an introductory address to the Round Rock Chamber Aug. 20, Jason Ball outlined his vision as the new president and CEO of the chamber.

“Everything this chamber touches is going to be something that contributes to the economic growth and vitality and opportunity of this region," Ball said. "That’s a tone we’re going to be setting.”

Ball’s role as president and CEO centers around recruiting new employers and bringing jobs to Round Rock.

“I think I can make a difference," Ball said. "I’m not short on ideas.”

A Nebraska native, Ball joked Tuesday afternoon about getting up to speed on all things Texas. He said members of the chamber gave him a gift basket, which included a book titled "Y'all Need This Book: The Definitive Guide to Being a Texan."

“I’ve never lived in a state that came with an instruction manual,” he said with a laugh.

Ball replaces Mike Odom, who served in the role for five years before taking a position at the Knoxville Area Chamber of Commerce in Tennessee earlier this year.

Looking ahead to his start this September, Ball said he is eager to join the Round Rock community.

“The growth of this community is amazing," he said. "People who do what I do understandably would leap at the opportunity to come here and do this work.”
