Three Hutto residents have filed for candidacy for the May 5 Hutto ISD board of trustees election.

Two incumbents, Phillip Boutwell and Byron McDaniel, will be joined on the ballot by Edgar Padilla, provost of Texas State Technical College.

Boutwell has served on the HISD board since 2008 and has previously served as president of the board. McDaniel has served on the board since 2006 and previously held the position of vice president.

Padilla serves on the board of the Capital Area Economic Development District for the Capital Area Council of Governments, and he also serves as the chairman-elect for the Hutto Area Chamber of Commerce.

HISD will hold a ballot draw for position on the ballot Feb. 23, according to Todd Robison, director of communications and community relations.

The seats for HISD are open places, per Robison, meaning the top two vote-getters will be appointed to the two open seats.
