Longtime resident and banker J. Hollis Bone announced his campaign for Round Rock City Council Place 1. A May 6 election will decide who will replace Craig Morgan, the current Place 1 council member and mayor pro tem who announced his candidacy for mayor.

Longtime Mayor Alan McGraw is not seeking re-election.

“I love Round Rock and would consider it a great honor to serve and make a difference in the community,” Bone said. “While I have consistently dedicated time and effort to various nonprofit groups within Round Rock, I look forward to the opportunity to make a bigger difference in our community as your Place 1 representative on the Round Rock City Council.”

A Round Rock resident since 1994, Bone has worked in the Round Rock area for more than two decades and served on various boards and volunteers for numerous nonprofit organizations in Central Texas. Bone serves on the boards of directors for the Hutto Area Chamber of Commerce, the Round Rock Police Foundation, the Round Rock Partners in Education Foundation, the Round Rock Economic Development Advisory Committee, and the Round Rock Foundation for the Arts and Entertainment. He has also served on the Round Rock Planning and Zoning Commission since 2013.

Hollis and his wife of 26 years have two daughters, Lindsey and Lauren, both students at Round Rock High School.

On May 6, voters in Round Rock will elect a new mayor and council members for Place 1 and Place 4.
