When JT Williams Masonry opened its office on East Front Street in Hutto last November, executives Jack and Tamara Williams were looking to make their business more accessible. In the years leading up to the move, JT Williams had worked on many projects in Hutto, and the couple wanted to increase its visibility.

“We try to be as competitive in our own backyard as we can be,” Jack said. “I don’t want to see out-of-town people come in here and do work that’s across the street from me.”

Residents of Hutto can see the masonry company’s work in several of the city’s landmark buildings, including the Hutto Fire Rescue station off Exchange Boulevard or Dell Diamond on Hwy. 79.

JT Williams has also done renovations on several Hutto ISD buildings. When construction work began on the school district’s newest building, Benjamin Doc Kerley Elementary School, JT Williams won the bid.

The Williams couple moved to Hutto three years ago. All of their children live in the Central Texas area, and the desire to reconnect with their family led the couple to relocate to the region.

In 2016 the Williamses bought R&R Masonry from Hutto business owner Larry Reid and adjusted the company’s logistics to include high-tech practices. According to Tamara, the company uses software to analyze work site progress and build detailed, accurate construction estimates.

“The estimating software we’re using is state-of-the-art,” Tamara said.

Jack said the software helps the company keep up with the demand for one of its largest clients—Tractor Supply Co. JT Williams has done the masonry for approximately 50 Tractor Supply Co. locations across Texas, per Jack. The company actively bids on contracts across Central Texas, from Waco to San Antonio.

But the masonry is especially interested in contributing mason work within the Hutto community, Tamara said. The vice president said the company was focused on providing well-paying jobs from the onset, and JT Williams currently has approximately 50 employees working for the company.

“Our community is important to us. We want to do good, quality work and be proud of, whenever we retire, what we left in the community,” Tamara said.
