Hutto salon aims to give back to community

Sisters Anna Gonzales and Regina Sanchez opened The Studio in Hutto in September 2010. Since then, they have moved twice before ending up at 106 East Street in February 2016. Their goal, Gonzales said, is to bring an upscale salon to a small town.

“Our whole thing is when our guests walk in the door, their whole world can stay outside of the salon and they can come in and feel comforted and relaxed,” Gonzales said.

Sanchez said she received training to perform oncology skincare so that she can provide facials to clients going through chemotherapy. Gonzales has also done wig work for clients who lost their hair during cancer treatment.

“When our clients go through hard times in their lives, we want to be their source to help them feel better,” Gonzales said. “We want to be a safe environment for them to come shave their head because they’re going to lose their hair. We want to take care of them not just in the healthy times, but the hard times also.”

Through a partnership with the Giocosa Foundation, a foster care placement company in Hutto, The Salon provides back-to-school haircuts for foster children. They also work with Hutto ISD’s “Pink Out” fundraiser by helping students who want to donate their hair for wigs to cancer patients undergoing treatment.

With eight stylists and clients visiting from all over the state, The Salon is growing and Gonzales said they are running out space, so their third move is on the horizon.

Gonzales and Sanchez plan to build a new salon on a property Sanchez owns at 306 West Street. Gonzales said she hopes the new salon will be open by November 2019 and will have more room for services.

“We just want to be the one-stop location for our guests to come in and get everything done from the tops of their head to the tips of their toes,” Gonzales said.

But no matter how much they grow, Gonzales said The Salon will stay in Hutto.

“We’re not going anywhere, this is our town,” Gonzales said. “We love this town.”
