Rain forces Gilbert to cancel Outdoors Expo event

The rain from the past two days has forced Gilbert to cancel its Outdoors Expo event, which was scheduled for Feb. 23.

The event will not be rescheduled this year.

Town organizers expected more than 4,000 people to attend the event, which in past years has featured activities and exhibitions for fishing, camping, hunting and hiking.

However, with an inch of rain Feb. 21 and more having fallen Feb. 22, the venue at the Riparian Preserve at Water Park became too muddy to host the event, town officials said.
