Progress on planning the US 183 North project, which will add four toll lanes between MoPac and RM 620, stalled in late 2017 after the governor announced no toll projects could use voter-approved funds from propositions 1 and 7.

The Texas Transportation Commission is expected to approve Jan. 31 a project development agreement between the Texas Department of Transportation and the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority. Mobility Authority Executive Director Mike Heiligenstein said after getting that approval the agency can procure a contractor to design and build the project. Construction is expected to start in spring 2020, and the project will also include adding a fourth continuous nontolled lane that TxDOT will fund.
