APD has lifted the shelter in place order for residents near the Arboretum area. Police advise residents to continue to stay aware of their surroundings as the order has been lifted.

The Austin Police Department around 1 p.m. April 18 announced officers are currently on the scene of a shooting incident at Great Hills Trail and Rain Creek Parkway in the Arboretum area.

Residents who live in the area are advised to shelter in place as the suspect is still at large, according to communications from the APD. Other residents are advised to avoid the area.

Loop 360 will be shut down in both directions from Spicewoods Springs to US 183 in Northwest Austin due to the ongoing incident, according to APD.


In a tweet posted around 1:30 p.m., the APD stated the incident appears to be a “domestic situation” that does not serve a risk to the general public.

Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services reported via Twitter just after noon that three adults were pronounced dead on the scene in the 9600 block of Great Hills Trail.
