After receiving customer requests over the years for a North Austin expansion, Cabo Bob's Burritos co-owner John Stepan said Tuesday a new location is expected to open by late summer or early fall at 7849 Shoal Creek Blvd., Austin, within the retail area on West Anderson Lane just east of MoPac.

Stepan said an expansion north has been in the works for some time. Cabo Bob's started in 2008 and now has two locations: 500 E. Ben White Blvd, Ste. D100, Austin, and 2828 Rio Grande St., Austin.

"We've been on the hunt for a [location] in North Austin," he said.

The new location will have the same general appearance and menu of other Cabo Bob's restaurants. Stepan said remodeling work on an existing 1,600-square-foot retail space on Shoal Creek Boulevard should begin within the next month.

He said he expects the North Austin location will be able to take advantage of the busy Anderson Lane travel and business corridor.

Cabo Bob's has received recognition over the past couple of years for its Pacific Coast-inspired burrito options, including mentions on national top burrito rankings from food writers at The Daily Meal and FiveThirtyEight. The restaurant's menu also includes tacos, bowls and salads.
