1.  Learn about longevitology practice

The Asian American Resource Center hosts a longevitology practice with the Chang Sen Xue Longevitology Association Thursday evening. The practice improves the body’s healing ability through channeling and adjusting energy flow in the body, according to the organization’s website.

2. Attend an Austin Energy green building workshop

Austin Energy hosts workshops throughout August to teach the public about building, buying and remodeling green homes. Thursday’s workshop teaches attendees how to design homes that are material- and resource-efficient.

3. Pickle vegetables with Austin Homebrew Supply

The Austin Homebrew Supply Pickling Class teaches students how to pickle garden vegetables and make fermented foods like sauerkraut using a natural lacto-fermentation process. Hosted by Dan Pishlo, the class teaches students the step-by-step instructions.

4. Attend the OITA Japan Festival

The Asian American Resource Center hosts an OITA Japan Festival to kick off Anime Week. Activities include Japanese food and sake, a noodle-eating contest, an artisan and festival marketplace, and a cultural performance.

5. Take the kids to Domain Northside’s “See Ya, Summer!” series

Watch School of Rock and Sol Scoundrel and the Bass at the Domain’s Northside Lawn Saturday afternoon. Suggested ages are 2 to 12 years old. Parents must be present for the entire event.

6. Cool off at the seventh annual Splash Mob

Next Level Fun presents the event, where Austin residents can bring their water balloons, squirt guns and water hoses to partake in a “splash mob.” Next Level Fun also suggests attendees bring swimsuits and goggles.
