1. Barbara Jordan exhibit 

The Texas Capitol is remembering the notable politician’s legacy with a special exhibit for Black History Month. The exhibit is curated by the Barbara Jordan Freedom Foundation and highlights Jordan’s background, rise to elected office and lasting legacy.

2. Dialogue on charter schools

The University of Texas School of Law hosts keynote speaker Huriya Jabbar, an assistant professor of educational policy studies at UT, and a panel of education professionals for a forum to discuss the question: Are charter schools good for public education? The event is part of the UT Opportunity Forum's 2016-17 Lunch Series.

3. Free pet adoptions at Austin shelters

The Austin Humane Society, Austin Pets Alive and the Austin Animal Center are waiving pet adoption fees Feb. 10-12 as part of Petco Foundation's Discover Love national adoption event. Cats, dogs, kittens, puppies and rabbits will be available for adoption.

4. SXSW Volunteer Call 
More than 4,000 volunteers are needed to put on the annual South by Southwest Conferences & Festivals each year, and the organization is hosting an open call for applications this Saturday. In exchange for volunteering a minimum of 24 hours during SXSW 2017, which runs March 6-19, volunteers earn badges and wristbands to the conference.

5. International rugby at The Dell Diamond

Ryan Sanders Entertainment hosts USA Rugby versus Brazil in the second annual Americas Rugby Championship. The game is one of only two ARC games played in the U.S. this year, and it is part of a five-week tournament.
