1. MoPac toll lanes


Work continues on the MoPac express toll lanes between Parmer Lane and Cesar Chavez Street. In the coming weeks the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority expects to reopen the northbound auxiliary, or merge, lane between 35th and 45th streets. Crews also will be laying down a final layer of friction course pavement this spring. Mobility Authority Executive Director Mike Heiligenstein said March 29 that the agency is still anticipating the project to be complete sometime this summer.

2. Hearn Street and West Seventh Street water line improvements


Twelve-inch water lines are under construction as of February on Hearn Street from Lake Austin Boulevard to West Seventh Street and on West Seventh from Hearn to Meriden Lane as well as at the intersections of West Seventh and Deep Eddy Avenue and West Seventh and Upson Street. During construction no parking will be allowed on Hearn in select areas from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Residents should observe posted signage.

3. Gonzales Lift Station abandonment


The existing lift station will be abandoned after completion of the project, which entails installation of a wastewater main line and other accessory parts. On April 10, crews began work at the site. During construction, lane reductions will occur along Tillery Street between Gonzales Street and Lyons Road.

Connections 2025  Updates Approved Feb. 27, Capital Metro’s service plan update aims to bring more residents within walking distance of frequent bus service but also raises the issue of accessibility. The transit agency will now coordinate a more comprehensive public outreach process as well as a second vote to approve any late changes to routes.[/caption]

4. Route 801


The route realignment is intended to boost frequency and modify the distance between bus stops. New stops will be introduced and will serve customers currently taking Route 1 at Metric Boulevard and South Congress Avenue. Service would also operate on North Lamar Boulevard to Howard Lane and Tech Ridge. From midnight-5 a.m., the bus would stop every 30 minutes between Rundberg Lane and the South Congress Transit Center.

5. Route 335


The new local route is intended to offer service to 35th and 38th streets between Jefferson Street in the west and the Mueller development in the east.

6. Route 451


The new downtown circulator route is proposed to connect the MetroRail downtown station along Fourth Street to the Seaholm District in southwest downtown. From its eastern loop around Trinity Street, Fifth Street and San Jacinto Street, the route will travel on Fourth, turning left onto Nueces Street, right onto Second Street, right onto West Avenue, left onto Third Street, right onto Lamar Boulevard, right onto Fifth and right onto Nueces, where it will continue its eastbound trip by turning left onto Fourth.
