Transportation Updates Old FM 2243[/caption]

1. Old FM 2243


Work began Jan. 4 on a project to widen Old FM 2243 in Leander from two to five lanes, including a center-turn lane, between US 183 and a location just west of North Lakeline Boulevard. Crews will keep at least one lane open in each direction throughout most of the project and will announce any brief road closures, which are expected to occur at night or during low-traffic periods. The project includes relocations of utility lines and conversion of drainage ditches to storm sewers under new lanes. Crews will add turn lanes for cross streets.
Timeline: Jan. 4, 2016-spring 2017
Cost: $24 million (estimated)
Funding sources: city of Leander, Williamson County (50 percent or up to $9.15 million)

Transportation Updates Cypress Creek Road/Lakeline Boulevard[/caption]

2. Cypress Creek Road/Lakeline Boulevard


In January crews began widening a Lakeline Boulevard bridge as part of improvements at the intersection of Cypress Creek Road and Lakeline. Crews are extending dual left-turn lanes on north- and southbound Lakeline. Construction also includes widening existing left- and right-turn lanes as well as adding medians and two new right-turn lanes each on east- and westbound Cypress Creek.
Timeline: June 2015-spring 2016
Cost: $2.2 million
Funding sources: city of Cedar Park, Williamson County



3. North Bagdad Road widening


Leander City Council plans to solicit bids by April for a project to widen Bagdad Road from two to five lanes between Old FM 2243 and CR 280. Work could begin late in the spring.
Timeline: spring 2016-fall 2017
Cost: $13 million (estimated)
Funding sources: city of Leander, Williamson County (50 percent or up to $4.9 million)



4. West Whitestone Boulevard center turn lane


As of Feb. 3, the Texas Department of Transportation was 91 percent finished with adding a 1.4-mile center turn lane on West Whitestone Boulevard between Anderson Mill and Bagdad roads.
Timeline: April 2014-spring 2016
Cost: $4.8 million

5. Little Elm Trail


Work began in December on a project to fill in two gaps of Little Elm, adding a total of four lanes that connect Bell and Lakeline boulevards. Cedar Park Project Manager Randall Lueders said all four lanes should open by the end of this year.
Timeline: December 2015- December 2016
Cost: $7.06 million
Funding sources: city of Cedar Park ($2.98 million); Cedar Park Community Development Corp., also known as the 4B Board ($550,000); Williamson County ($3.53 million)



6. East Whitestone Boulevard pass-through project


As of late November, traffic on East Whitestone Boulevard in Cedar Park is using new lanes on the road’s north side. In December crews began paving new lanes on the road’s south side between Market Street and CR 175/Sam Bass Road. The project will widen the road from four to six lanes.
Timeline: August 2014-summer 2016
Cost: $22 million
