The Texas Department of Transportation will close the main lanes of I-35 at Yarrington Road in San Marcos from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Feb. 7-11 to allow demolition of the old Yarrington Road bridge over the interstate.

Traffic will be diverted to the frontage roads during the closures.

The bridge will be demolished in four phases, with one phase being torn down each night, according to a Hays County news release.

During the closures, northbound traffic on I-35 will take Exit 210 toward Yarrington Road. Northbound traffic will re-enter the highway at the entrance ramp north of Yarrington Road. Southbound traffic on I-35 will take Exit 210 toward Yarrington Road. Southbound traffic will re-enter the highway north of the Blanco River.

TxDOT has been making improvements to the Yarrington Road intersection as part of Hays County’s Pass-Through Financing Program with the state. The $12.2 million project will add a widened bridge across I-35 with northbound and southbound turnarounds as well as widened frontage roads.

TxDOT officials expect the project to be complete in mid-2016.
