Editor's note: After going to press with the Sept. 17 edition Read King released additional information regarding the development at West and Fry roads, including plans that no longer involve a Wal-Mart as an anchor store.  A new Wal-Mart store is set to open in the Cy-Fair area within the next year. The store will be a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, opening on the southwest corner of Barker Cypress and Cypress North Houston roads. The store will be 40,000 square feet, approximately one-fourth the size of the average Wal-Mart Supercenter. “We are very excited to bring a new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market to the growing community of Cypress, and we look forward to a grand opening in early 2016,” said Anne Hatfield, director of communications for Wal-Mart. [polldaddy poll=9084276] While not as inclusive as the supercenters, Hatfield said the small-format store will feature produce, groceries, a full-service pharmacy, select household goods and a fuel station. Although another Wal-Mart was proposed at the intersection of Fry and West roads as part of the Miramesa Town Center, Read King removed the store from the site plan. The company is not ready to release new tenants yet at this time. Read King will handle leasing for the new development project, which will involve all four corners of the intersection at the front of the Miramesa development.
