Scott Gerdes, West Lake Hills chief of police, selected two new patrol officers for the police department from 30 applicants. Mayor Dave Claunch administered the oath of office to the officers—Matthew Hall and Brooke Stewart—at the Aug. 12 City Council meeting.

Both Hall and Stewart graduated from university police departments, Gerdes said.
