One Austinite with a passion for mid-century furniture at an affordable cost opened her own furniture store to share her passion with others.

Jennifer Koppen opened lily pad on June 6 at 5501 N. Lamar Blvd., Ste. 102. Shoppers can find mid-century modern design pieces as well as higher-priced luxury brand pieces.

"Taking a big leap of faith, I have decided to open up a one-of-a-kind store with a friendly atmosphere, where the serious mid-century shopper can stop by each week to see what new pieces we have acquired, or stop in to visit with Lily and I and lounge on one of our modern & distinctive couches," Koppen said in an email.

Pieces found at lily pad will be rare, nostalgic or add a new flare to a buyer's home, Koppen said. The business's name was inspired by Koppen's daughter, Lily, who Koppen described as her good luck charm while searching for the best in home decor.

lily pad is open Saturdays and Sundays as well as by appointment during the week.
