Pflugerville Public Works Director James Wills announced the city is able to move into Stage 2 restrictions now that the Highland Lakes—which supply about 70 percent of Pflugerville’s water—have risen by approximately 600,000 acre feet. In the past month, about 193 billion gallons of water entered Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan, Wills said. “The rain did fall where we needed it to replenish the lakes and help us out with our drought,” he said. “Prior to this, the last time Texas was completely free of a severe to extreme exceptional drought was June of 2010.” Pflugerville residents are still restricted to watering on designated days before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Watering schedules are based on street address and a complete list of water use rules and conservation guidelines are available at www.pfreshwater.com.
