Logos Preparatory Academy has announced a partnership with Westland Baptist Church that will bring its school to Katy in the fall.

A university-model school offering a mix of traditional classroom teaching and homeschooling, Logo Preparatory Academy has operated in Sugar Land since 2006.

Westland Baptist Church, located at 1407 West Grand Parkway South, will serve as the school's Katy location, said Roy Meadows, senior pastor of Westland Baptist.

"In one sense [the school's Katy location] will be an extension of the Sugar Land school, in another sense it will be a community of its own with its own principal and campus," he said.

The school will hold classes in the church's current facilities, Meadows said.

"Their plan is to meet on the church campus and use rooms and facilities that are not used during the week," he said.

Moving their classrooms into existing area churches is part of the school's strategy to branch out into the Greater Houston area, said Ron Clyde, Head of School for Logos Preparatory.

"Sharing facilities with like-minded churches allows us to keep our costs down while keeping our quality high," he said.

When it launches in the fall, the school will offer classes for grades third–eighth, with plans to expand into Kindergarten–12th grade, Clyde said.

The school will hold a series of informational meetings at Westland Baptist Church for families interested in learning about the school at 7 p.m. on April 9, May 7 and June 2.
