Another publicly traded company is moving its headquarters to North Texas.

Champions DFW Commercial Realty announced Jan. 28 that TearLab Corp. has leased 7,661 square feet of office space at 940 S. Kimball Ave. in Southlake in order to move its headquarters from San Diego, to Southlake.

TearLab develops and markets a specialized lab-on-a-chip, called TearLab Osmolarity Test, which is used to diagnose dry eye disease.

According to Tearlab's website, the noninvasive dry eye disease test takes a 50-nanoliter sample of fluid from the eyelid for analysis.

Analysis of the sample is complete in seconds; no anesthesia is required.

If left untreated dry eye disease can cause irritation and scarring of the cornea and an increased risk of infection and visual impairment, according to TearLab's website.

No completion date for the relocation to Southlake was available. Requests for comments from TearLab were not returned by press time.
