Round Rock-based Short and Sweet Weddings has teamed up with Kindred Oaks in Georgetown to offer low-cost weddings for Valentine's Day on Feb. 14. "My wife and I both have a real passion for helping people get married," said Scott Cole, Short and Sweet Weddings co-owner. "We originally thought this would be a good service to help people." The couple will offer weddings by appointment at Kindred Oaks, located at 2100 CR 176 in Georgetown, and at their office, which is located at 1104 S. Mays St, Ste. 212, in Round Rock. Walk-ins are welcome at Short and Sweets office only, Cole said. Weddings will be performed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and the ceremony costs $50. After seeing a posting on Short and Sweet Weddings Facebook Page, Kindred Oaks owner Elaine Lincoln said she wanted to offer her venue for the ceremonies. "It worked out that we don't have anything booked on [Valentine's Day],"Lincoln said. "[The venue] is booked every Saturday in 2015 except that one." Cole said a wedding license must be obtained 72 hours prior to the ceremony in accordance with state law. Along with providing the venue at no cost, Kindred Oaks' on-site florist ZuZu's Petalswill offer a bouquet and boutonniere for $75. Cole said the event could become an annual event if there is enough interest. "We have to feel like we are doing the right thing," he said. Weddings can be scheduled by calling 512-704-4678 or through Short and Sweet Weddings website at www.shortandsweetweddings.com.
