Three years in the making, Hill Country Golf and Guitar, 15506 W. Hwy. 71, Bee Cave, officially opened its miniature golf course, live music stage and Six String Grill eatery on Nov. 8.
The project is the brainchild of public relations executive Rich Phillips, a Spicewood resident, who said he was seeking to create a local family-friendly destination built around music.
The complex is located on about 8 acres on Hwy. 71 next to Nitro Swimming, with a 3-acre green buffer aside the Falconhead West neighborhood.
The Six String Grill serves classic American food and has big screen televisions and a bar area with garage doors that can be opened in nice weather.
The Treehouse, connected to the main dining area by a deck, is intended to be a stand alone teen hangout, complete with video games, a big screen television and a sofa.
"I thought it was important that the [venue] not be a bar first but rather a restaurant and entertainment venue first," Phillips said. "My [three] kids had a lot of input into [The Treehouse]."
The Fender miniature golf course is 18 holes and Phillips said he plans to add another 18-hole course—the Gibson—in the spring.
"The guitar is ubiquitous," Phillips said of the eatery's symbol that is displayed throughout the project. "I wanted to build something uniquely Austin."
Phillips said he plans to add a Sunday Brunch with Christian bands next year and has future ideas of carrying his entertainment concept to more cities around Texas.
