Bluebonnet Elementary School hosted a ribbon cutting Sept. 26 to celebrate the opening of its newly constructed outdoor learning center.

Located on the west side of campus at 1010 Chisholm Valley Drive, the learning center has six gardening beds and a covered amphitheater for lectures and presentations.

Gabi Nio, Bluebonnet's principal, said the school launched a gardening club last year. The learning center will serve gardening club participants, as well as the entire 588 students at the school.

Leadership Round Rock, a program run through the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, spearheaded the project as a service project for Round Rock ISD. The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, Bluebonnet administration and Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw were among those who attended the event.
