Tomball ISD officials are seeking parent volunteers to serve on its Attendance Zone Realignment Committee to help create new school attendance zones to accommodate campuses slated to open in the next two school years.

With the district scheduled to open three new campuses in 2015 and another in 2016, Tomball ISD attendance zones need to be reviewed and realigned, Communications Director Staci Stanfield said.

The district will open Wildwood Elementary on Northpointe Boulevard, Oakcrest Intermediate on Shaw Road and Creekview Elementary on West New Harmony Lane in The Woodlands in August 2015. In August 2016, Creekside Park Junior High on Creekside Green Drive will also open in The Woodlands.

Throughout the realignment process, the committee will work with a demographic consultant to develop options for the new attendance boundaries, Stanfield said. A recommendation will then be made to the Tomball ISD school board, who will then review and set the new attendance zones.

"The Attendance Zone Realignment Committee will be comprised of school staff members, district administrators and 12 parents representing five different zones throughout the district," she said. "Five alternates will be selected should a parent member be unable to serve and two parent volunteers from each of the five district zones will be selected during a random drawing. Two at-large parent positions will also be drawn from all of the remaining registration forms."

Parents wishing to serve on the committee can register by completing the form online at www.tomballisd.net and clicking Realignment Committee. Forms can be returned to the child's school. Parents may also fax the form to 281-357-3128, email [email protected] or deliver the form to the John P. Neubauer Administration Building, 310 S. Cherry St., Tomball. The deadline for submission is 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 24.
