Serving Italian pies in downtown Southlake

On a warm weekend evening, you may hear live music coming from the rooftop dining area at Campania Pizza.

Featuring one of the only rooftop bars and dining areas in Southlake and authentic Italian pizza, Campania has become a popular spot.

Opening six years ago in Southlake's town square and named for a region in Southern Italy, the restaurant originated in Dallas and was opened by Dennis Reinhold and his wife in 2005.

Campania specializes in pizza but offers other Italian fare, such as pasta, sandwiches and calzones, manager/bartender Johnathan Losasso said.

But with two Italian-made wood-burning ovens, pizza is the main draw at Campania.

Listed on the menu as the owner's favorite, the Doso pizza is topped with mozzarella, extra-virgin olive oil, grape tomatoes, basil, crushed red pepper and garlic.

Campania offers sauce-free pizzas such as the primavera—grape tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, arugula, parmesan and prosciutto di parma—as well as more contemporary tomato sauce pies, such as the Amalfi, which has mozzarella, Italian sausage, mushrooms and fresh basil.

The lunch special, which includes a house salad and small pizza, costs $9, Losasso said.

Wine Wednesdays feature any bottle of wine with a free pizza, and any two glasses of wine come with a free antipasto platter, Losasso said.

Weather permitting, there is live music on the roof patio Thursday–Saturday, which features a bar and about 20 tables, Losasso said.

Along with the rooftop, there is a second level mostly for private parties, he said, and the regular dining room and bar on the first floor.
