Local restaurant adds a dozen Texas draft beers to menu

Rounders Pizzeria has been baking up authentic New York–style pizza and calzones for about 10 years, and owner Adam Garber gave the restaurant even more local flair in 2012 by bringing on 12 Texas and local draft beers.

"It would be very difficult for us to come out and say we have the best beer selection in Austin with a location this size, so we felt like what we could do is really give us one of the best local draft selections, which I felt like was important for what we're trying to be to the marketplace," Garber said.

Local beers include Beardy Guard from Rogness Brewing Co. and a Belgian-style Golden Ale from South Austin Brewing Co. Texas breweries represented in Rounders' selection come from as far north as McKinney.

Garber said he also has made other improvements to the menu and restaurant, including incorporating more cane syrup beverages, crushed ice and a roof for the front patio.

As 2013 gets under way, Garber said he has noticed an identity shift in the west Sixth Street area with a number of new restaurants and businesses being established. Rounders Pizzeria is looking to continue providing high-quality pizza and a memorable dining experience in the area, he said.

"2013, as far as we're concerned with our business, we're not going to be any different because through and through, every year we consistently try and make it a better experience for our guests," he said. "That's really important to us, and the people who have been coming to us for 10 years have seen, every year, the money I've put back into the place to try and just make it that much better."
