Why did Stefon, Hot Pockets and The Church Lady cross the road? To appear at the Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival in April.

Bill Hader, Jim Gaffigan and Dana Carvey are among the headliners for the comedy festival scheduled for April 24–27, organizer Jim Ritts announced Jan. 22. They will be among the more than 100 comics performing during three days at 12 venues, 10 of which will be within a five-block radius downtown Austin.

The inaugural Moontower Festival in 2012 drew approximately 20,000 people, which Ritts said far exceeded his expectations.

"When we stood here [last year] and we boldly and confidently announced that we were going to do [Moontower] and our hope was that it would be one of the top three or four comedy festivals in all of North America, I would be lying to you if I said our actual sense of confidence was equal to the bravado we showed that day," Ritts said. "The truth is that it was a giant gamble."

This year's festival offers several types of badges as well as single-performance tickets to the shows for the headlining comics at the Paramount Theater and Cap City Comedy Club. Badges start at $129 and are on sale now.

Other comics scheduled to perform include:

Amy Schumer

Anthony Jeselnik

Andy Kindler

Brendon Walsh

Kyle Kinane

Marc Maron

Maria Bamford

Rory Scovel

James Adomian
