P. Terry's Burger Stand is planning two locations in Northwest Austin that will open in the summer and fall this year.

"We're delighted to head north," founder Patrick Terry said.

Construction began Jan. 2 at MoPac and Cedar Bend Drive on the seventh P. Terry's location. Terry said it will be the largest location and is expected to open in early summer. He said it will have a 1,000-square-foot outdoor patio and double drive-thru. Terry said the selling point on this property was its proximity to St. David's North Austin Medical Center.

An eighth location on US 183 at Oak Knoll Drive near Catfish Parlour is scheduled to go under construction this summer and open in the fall, Terry said.

With the exception of the original location, P. Terry's has used Michael Hsu Office of Architecture to design each of its locations. Terry said he favors using the same materials of wood, stone and glass at each store but giving them a different look.

"We maintain the integrity in all of our locations, but we like the designs to all look a little different," he said.

Architect Scott Magic from Michael Hsu said the design is called Googie architecture that is reminiscent of the 1950s and inspired by the future.

Terry said he has wanted to expand north for quite some time based on feedback from customers, but finding a location until now was difficult.

"We chose locations where our customers are," he said.
