The U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Westlake Academy 37th out of more than 22,000 public high schools from 49 states and Washington, D.C.

As part of the ranking, Westlake Academy was awarded a gold medal. Schools were awarded bronze, silver and gold medals based on a variety of factors such as preparing students for college and adherence to state proficiency standards.

U.S. New & World Report also ranked Westlake Academy fifth in the state and sixth in the nation for charter schools.

Westlake Academy Superintendent Tom Brymer said in a statement that he and his staff were thrilled to receive the high ranking in the nation and among other charter schools.

"The students at Westlake Academy consistently go the extra mile with amazing results, thought processes and creativity, and ultimately, the desire to make the world a better place," Brymer said.

Westlake Academy will host its graduation ceremony at 2 p.m. June 2 at the Hurst Conference Center.
