Former first lady Laura Bush will preside May 11 over a 10th anniversary celebration at her namesake Leander ISD school.

Laura Welch Bush Elementary School, located at 12600 Country Trail in Austin, will host the former first lady during a morning of festivities for current and former students, staff and parents beginning at 10 a.m. Bush will address attendees and tour the school prior to the dedication of the campus' new outdoor education center. The PTA and staff will host a private indoor reception and technology presentation immediately following the dedication.

A former teacher and librarian, Bush visited the campus at its opening in August 2002. The elementary school is a rated as Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency.
