Overview
Located minutes from downtown, the Barton Hills neighborhood is located between Barton Creek and MoPac from east to west and Barton Springs Road to Capital of Texas Hwy. from north to south. The name "Barton" comes from William "Uncle Billy" Barton who set up his family's homestead near what is now known as Barton Springs in 1837.
The neighborhood itself was originally developed in the 1940s and has grown to become home to well-performing schools, ranch-style homes perched on winding, hilly streets and green construction projects. Residents in Barton Hills can walk or ride their bikes to Zilker Park, Barton Springs, the greenbelt and to a variety of restaurants on South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Springs Road.
