With more than two months remaining until the May 4 election, the ballot is set. Hopeful contenders had until Feb. 15 to file for candidacy.

In Comal ISD, the board of trustees will not see any changes. Single-member districts 6 and 7 were up for grabs, but the current board members were the only applicants. Marty Bartlett, District 6, and Cody Mueller, District 7, will remain on the board.

The New Braunfels ISD board of trustees has three seats up for grabs. Two at large positions currently filled by Vice President Wes Clark and Secretary David Heefner will appear on the ballot. Both incumbents filed for re-election. Michael Trevino is also vying for an at-large position. District 1 trustee Keith Smith is running for re-election unopposed.

Terms are expiring for the New Braunfels City Council districts 1 and 2 seats. Shane Hines is running unopposed in District 1 after assuming the position in February of last year during a special election. The election was called when former Council Member George Green left his post to run for the Comal County justice of the peace Precinct 3 spot.

There is competition for the District 2 seat, with three candidates—including incumbent Justin Meadows—in the running. Bryan Mortenson and Krystal Bolden will also appear on the ballot.

The city will also ask voters for $120 million in bond funding to go toward transportation projects, parks projects, public safety initiatives and a new library. City officials say the bond package will not increase the tax rate if passed.
