On April 6, Comal County announced the number of local COVID-19 cases had reached 22, double the number reported on March 31.

The new case is travel-related and is a patient in their 40s from New Braunfels who is self-quarantined.

A seventh patient has recovered, up from six on April 3, with 13 cases still active.

New Braunfels opened a drive-thru testing center this weekend, and several private clinics are performing coronavirus testing.

As of Monday morning, 226 tests have been conducted in the county with the Office of Public Health reporting the following results:

  • 22 positive tests

  • 150 negative tests

  • 54 results still pending


The confirmed cases are dispersed throughout the county as follows:


  • 9 in New Braunfels or the immediate area

  • 4 in the Bulverde area

  • 3 in eastern Comal County

  • 3 north of Canyon Lake

  • 1 from southwest Comal County

  • 1 from south of Canyon Lake


In addition to tracking case counts, the county is also tracking the source of each infection:


  • 9 travel-related

  • 6 unconfirmed or under investigation

  • 4 community spread

  • 3 close contact with a known positive case
