At its Dec. 7 meeting, the Comal County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation recognizing Dec. 9, 2017, as Saint Jude’s Ranch for Children (SJRC) Texas’ Jingle Bell Run Day in Comal County.
Dec. 9 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Jingle Bell Run event that benefits SRJC Texas, an organization that cares for children and families who have been affected by trauma, abuse and neglect. According to the proclamation, more than 58,000 victims of child abuse and neglect were confirmed in Texas in 2016.
The Jingle Bell Run is presented by Comal ISD Community Education and will take place at Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Road, New Braunfels. The event will include a 5K race on a certified course at 8 a.m. and a kid’s 1K at 8:45 a.m.
The cost to participate is $25, and pre-race registration may be
completed here. Race day registration will take place on site from 6:30-7:45 a.m.
The top finishers will receive cash prizes, and there will be an opportunity to take photos with Santa after the race. A wellness expo will also take place from 7-10 a.m.
The court also approved a motion to reappoint the following members to the county’s Water Oriented Recreational District Board of Directors for two-year terms expiring on Dec. 31, 2019: Doug Carver, Jennifer Bretzke, Lynn Lindsey and Jim Green.
