On June 18 the city of Cedar Park began work on a project to alter turn lanes at the intersection of Cypress Creek Road and Lakeline Boulevard. Crews will extend dual left-turn lanes on north- and southbound Lakeline as well as widen left- and right-turn lanes and add new right-turn lanes and medians on east- and westbound Cypress Creek. The project is meant to improve traffic efficiency and will also relocate sidewalks and streetlights. Updates are posted on www.cedarparktexas.gov/construction.

2. Toll 183A/US 183 intersection


On June 8 the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority closed portions of the intersection of Toll 183A and US 183 in Leander as part of a project to rebuild the intersection. Driver detours to access CR 276 are expected to last about two months. The project is intended to give drivers safer turn lane movements and includes roadway widening, new sidewalks and signals and improvements to signals, and drainage. Crews have added a tie-in for future construction of a new intersecting street, Bryson Ridge Trail. 3. East Whitestone Boulevard

In late July traffic on East Whitestone Boulevard will be shifted to the highway’s north side from Market Street to CR 175/Sam Bass Road for the second phase of the project to rebuild the intersection of East Whitestone and Parmer Lane/Ronald Reagan Boulevard into a partial continuous-flow intersection. Crews are adding new lanes to the north side of Whitestone and expanding the bridge over Brushy Creek. When the project is finished, Whitestone will be widened from four to six lanes between Market Street and CR 175/Sam Bass Road. The roadway will also have extended turn lanes at Whitestone’s intersections with Toro Grande Drive, Raley Road and Sam Bass. 4. Bagdad Road at Municipal/Vista Ridge drives traffic signal


The Leander Engineering Department is planning to add a traffic signal at Municipal/Vista Ridge drives and Bagdad Road. City engineer Wayne Watts said the new signal will be installed before nearby Camacho Elementary School opens in the fall.

5. Municipal Drive widening/extension


Leander ISD and the city of Leander are widening Municipal Drive and extending the road between Bagdad Road and South West Drive before Camacho Elementary School opens this fall. Delays are expected at the intersection of Municipal and South West during peak traffic hours. Updates are occasionally posted on the city’s website at www.leandertx.gov/engineering.

6. Old FM 2243 widening


The city of Leander is planning a project to expand Old FM 2243 to five lanes between US 183 and North Lakeline Boulevard. The project will likely include relocations of drainage ditches, which will become storm sewers under new lanes. Crews will also add turn lanes for businesses and cross streets as well as relocate utility lines and sidewalks.

7. West Whitestone Boulevard center turn lane


TxDOT is adding a center turn lane on Whitestone Boulevard for 1.4 miles between Anderson Mill and Bagdad roads.

8. West Whitestone Boulevard widening


The city of Cedar Park plans to widen Whitestone from four to six lanes between Anderson Mill and Bagdad roads and add left-turn lanes at Whitestone’s intersection with Lakeline Boulevard.
