Superintendent Dan Troxell said 100 percent of LISD campuses and its central office earned the No Place for Hate designation for the 2015-16 school year.

Jillian Bontke, project director for Anti Defamation League Austin, said the ADL established the No Place for Hate campaign to help schools gain the resources to make all students feel safe and welcome.

She said Leander ISD is the first entire school district ever to be awarded a No Place for Hate designation.

“It sends the message that as a community, this is an effort you value,” Bontke said.

School staffers, students and parents crowded the LEO Conference Center as the superintendent and board of trustees recognized each school campus individually.

No Place for Hate is a national initiative created by the ADL in 1999, and it is active in more than 1,500 campuses, according to the ADL’s website.
