Three Hill Country residents died Tuesday morning in a plane crash in Melbourne, Australia. Spicewood residents Greg DeHaven and Russell Munsch, and Westlake resident Glenn Garland were among the five fatalities in the crash.

Garland founded Westlake-based business CLEAResult Consulting with Jim Stimmel in 2003, and retired as CEO in August 2015, public relations representative Sydney Grubb told Community Impact Newspaper.

“Glenn Garland was more than a colleague to me—he was a visionary and a close friend,” Stimmel said in a statement Tuesday. “I am devastated to hear of his passing and my heart and thoughts are with his family. We have all lost an incredible man. I am blessed to have known and worked closely with Glenn for many years.”

CLEAResult also released a statement on Facebook about Garland’s passing.

Munsch was a founding partner in 32-year-oldAustin law firm Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, which opened an Austin office in 1996. He also served as president of the Pedernales Fire Department board of commissioners.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you our dear friend, colleague, and co-founder Russ Munsch passed away in a tragic plane crash in Melbourne, Australia,” the firm said in a statement to the press. “Russ was enjoying retirement, and doing what he loved almost more than practicing law – playing golf. Russ was a loving husband, father and friend, and he will be dearly missed.”

Denelle Wicht, DeHaven's sister, also posted about the accident on Facebook.
