Results from Travis County show that residents approved the passage of bond Propositions A and B for the city of Rollingwood. Final counts show Proposition A passing with nearly 78% of the vote and Proposition B passing with just over 64% of the vote.
Proposition A will allocate $5.3 million to improving water infrastructure through the city’s Water System Capital Improvements Plan.
Proposition B will allocate $2.5 million to the city’s existing combined administration and public safety building.
Rollingwood Mayor Gavin Massingill said, generally speaking, he is happy with the outcome.
"This shows the citizens are willing to invest in our community," he said. "We've also been good stewards of the community's tax dollars, and I think that's helped set the stage for a discussion for bond funds."
Moving forward, Massingill said water infrastructure will be the most pressing issue.
"We are in a good spot because we've done our homework here [with the Water Capital Improvements Plan], and, moving forward, we will be discussing next steps at future City Council meetings."
He also said, now that Proposition B has passed, the city of Rollingwood will be working with Travis County Emergency Services District No. 9, or the Westlake Fie Department; the fire department will be matching Proposition B bond funds to create a shared space for the city and fire department.

Proposition B will allocate $2.5 million to the city’s existing combined administration and public safety building.
“In the last few years we’ve had a high number of main breaks, so the water lines are in need of improvement from years of wear and tear,” City Manager Ashley Wayman said. “This is the time for us to come in and get our entire system up and running where it needs to be, including fireflow.”

Proposition B includes 3,500 square feet of renovations for the administration and public safety buildings and 2,500 square feet expansion of the municipal building. If approved, the cost to taxpayers with a home value of around $1 million will be an additional $130-$135 annually.
The total cost of both propositions if passed would be an annual increase of $355-$370 for a homeowner with a home value of $1 million.
