Here are a few things to know this week if you live in the Lake Travis or Westlake areas:

1. Lakeway Arts Committee holds its final Big Band Bash of 2016 today


The final Big Band Bash of 2016 will feature the 17-piece Republic of Texas Big Band at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek, Lakeway. The free event is open to the public and doors open at 7:30 p.m.

2. Westbank Library's DVD sale opens today


The Westbank Library, 1309 Westbank Drive, Austin, is hosting its DVD sale today through Dec. 21. DVDs cost $2 each. The sale is open Mon.-Thu. 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Fri.-Sat. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit www.westbanklibrary.com for more information.

3. The Austin Trail of Lights is open until Dec. 23


The Trail of Lights is open to the public from 7-10 p.m. until Dec. 23. Since it began in 1965, the event has grown to include holiday activities, more than 40 displays and 2 million holiday lights. The trail runs through Zilker Metropolitan Park, 2100 Barton Springs Road, Austin. Entry is free through Friday, but patrons will be charged $3 Dec. 17-23.

Lakeway's Trail of Lights is also on display nightly through Jan. 1, 6:30 p.m.-midnight. Parking is available at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway.

4. Eanes ISD and Lake Travis ISD Board of Trustees meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, with hearty agenda items


After months of developing district of innovation plans, both school district's boards of trustees will vote to approve proposals at school board meetings on Tuesday night. Details on EISD's Plan For Innovation and Local Control can be found here, while details on Lake Travis ISD's DOI plan can be found here.

EISD will meet at 5 p.m. with a closed session that the agenda advises will reopen into a public forum on proposed grade changes at 6 p.m. This open forum is specific to the district's grade point average proposal. It is limited to those who sign up online in advance at www.eanesisd.net/gpa. The online signup opened Monday at 9 a.m. Spots are limited for both individuals and delegations.

EISD's DOI discussion is set for item XV (B).

LTISD meets at 6 p.m. and will discuss the district's priorities for the Texas 85th Legislative Regular Session. Its DOI discussion is set for item 7 (B).

Eanes ISD meets at the district building, 601 Camp Craft Road 601, Austin. The Lake Travis ISD school board meeting will be held in the Educational Development Center, 607 N. RR 620, Austin.

5. Runoff election held Tuesday for Austin City Council District 10 seat 


First-term incumbent Council Member Sheri Gallo faces off against challenger Alison Alter in the only Austin City Council runoff race this election cycle. Early voting for the runoff election ran Dec. 1-9. The two candidates were the top two vote-getters in the Nov. 8 general election, as Gallo received 48 percent of the vote, and Alter received 36 percent. Election rules require winners to receive more than 50 percent of the ballots cast.

Election day voting location are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and can be found on the Travis County Clerk's website.

6. Bee Cave City Council meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday (note time change)


Bee Cave City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday to discuss The Backyard planned development changes as well as annexation hearings regarding various tracts.

Council meets at Bee Cave City Hall, 4000 Galleria Parkway, Bee Cave.

7. Johnson City Library hosts water presentation at 6 p.m. Tuesday  


Johnson City Public Library’s final “Third Thursday” presentation of the year will take place on Tuesday. Water 101 is a presentation by the Hill Country Alliance that answers questions about how humans use water, where we get our water, how we manage our limited resources and how we must balance varying demands on our water supply. The event is free and open to the public.

Johnson City Public Library is located at 501 Nugent Ave., Johnson City.

8. West Lake Hills City Council set to meet  at 7 p.m. Wednesday


The council, which usually meets twice a month, will have its only meeting for December on Wednesday at 7 p.m. along with its monthly Board of Adjustment meeting. The council is scheduled to receive an update from the North Peak Road traffic calming subcommittee,  appoint members to a wastewater commission and update residents on local public works projects.
