Austin cigar aficionados will be able to breathe easier in May when the city’s first Casa de Montecristo Fine Cigars & Smoking Lounge opens at 3801 N. Capital of Texas Hwy., Ste. A-100, Austin, in Westlake’s Davenport Village.

Montecristo CEO Rob Maneson confirmed to Community Impact Newspaper today the 3,800-square-foot store is slated to open during the first week in May and will house a smoking lounge, communal tables, private conversation areas, multiple high-definition televisions and an 800-square-foot walk-in humidor that will be used to maintain the product’s freshness.

The facility will sell company-owned and license-based brands of cigars as well as offer events featuring various vendors.

“Austin is a massively growing city, a vibrant city, and fits what we are trying to achieve,” Maneson said. “We thought the market was underserved. We know Texas folks like to smoke a good cigar every now and then.”

He said the new site will be the 16th store nationwide and the second store in Texas after Montecristo opened a Dallas location in July at 3878 Oak Lawn Ave., Ste. 350, Dallas.

Four cigar stores in Houston were purchased Nov. 1 and are in the process of being rebranded as Casa de Montecristo, he said.
