Lights On!

The city of Lakeway event will be indoors City Hall this year and marks the beginning of the holiday season with the first lighting of the Trail of Lights between City Hall and the Activity Center. Santa, Mrs. Claus and Rudolph plug in the display, and donations of non-perishable food items are collected to benefit Lake Travis Crisis Ministries. Lakeway Trail of Lights

After the Lights On! celebration Friday, the lights behind Lakeway City Hall are on display nightly through Jan. 1 for pedestrians, including those using wheelchairs and baby carriages. Spicewood Vineyards Half Marathon and 10K 

Benefiting team RWB (Red, White and Blue), the race takes a back course on farm roads with views of the Hill Country, and includes a post race wine tasting and catered food. There is also a Christmas costume competition. Early registration is available online. Registration at the event is $100 (10K) or $105 (half marathon). 8:30 a.m. to noon. WORTH THE TRIP! Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll

Celebrate the arrival of the holiday season with the seventh annual event in downtown Austin, featuring the lighting of the tree at the Capitol, shopping and activities on Congress Ave. and performances by Christina Cavazos and Colin Huntley, alumnus of the Austin School of The Performing and Visual Arts. Holiday Extravaganza

The TexARTS Broadway Company presents a holiday show that features Rockette-style numbers, holiday songs, and an appearance by Santa Claus. Wonderfest

Hosted by the Westlake Chamber of Commerce, Wonderfest features a bounce house, holiday train, petting zoo, free food, free beverages, games and vendors. Santa Claus will also ride in via fire truck. Sing Alongs Christmas Show

The 14th annual family-friendly event supports the Green Santa Project. The Sing Alongs is a group of 80 musicians from the Lakeway area who have been performing together for audiences since 1999. This year’s program is entitled, “The Light of Christmas.” Admission is the donation of one unwrapped gift for children ages 16 and under.
