1. Southwest Bypass construction


The city of Georgetown will build the Southwest Bypass from Leander Road to connect to the future Wolf Ranch Parkway extension, also known as the jug handle,” that will connect to D.B. Wood Road. The project will help provide a connection from Hwy. 29 to Leander Road. Williamson County is working on plans to extend the Southwest Bypass from Leander Road to I-35. The project is part of the 2015 road bond approved by voters in May.

Timeline: Early 2016-summer 2018
Cost: $15.2 million
Funding sources: city of Georgetown 2015 road bond

2. Wolf Ranch Parkway extension


Also referred to as the “jug handle,” the Wolf Ranch Parkway extension will connect with Hwy. 29 at the D.B. Wood Road intersection to the future Southwest Bypass. The project is part of the 2015 road bond approved by voters in May.
Timeline: Early 2016-summer 2018
Cost: $3.6 million
Funding sources: city of Georgetown 2015 road bond

3. FM 1460 expansion


Construction to widen FM 1460 to four lanes from Quail Valley Drive in Georgetown to just north of University Boulevard in Round Rock is expected to begin in November. The project includes adding traffic signals and bridge improvements. Utility relocation is underway. The Texas Department of Transportation will oversee the construction.

Timeline: November-fall 2017
Cost: $38.4 million
Funding sources: cities of Georgetown and Round Rock, TxDOT, Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and Williamson County

4. CR 245 and Williams Drive intersection realignment


Williamson County broke ground in April on a project to realign the intersection of CR 245 and Williams Drive with the intersection of Gabriel Woods Drive and Williams. The project will also add a left-turn lane from CR 245 onto Williams. KWest Group is the project’s contractor. Commissioners Court approved closing the roadway at Williams Drive to complete construction during its Aug. 3 meeting.

Timeline: April-late September
Cost: $550,000
Funding sources: Williamson County road bond

5. I-35  northbound frontage road and sidewalks

Construction to add northbound I-35 frontage road lanes between Hwy. 29 and SE Inner Loop continues. The project will also add a southbound-to-northbound turnaround bridge at Leander Road and four noncontiguous sidewalks from SE Inner Loop to Westinghouse Road. Crews closed lanes in late July to continue construction on the southbound-to-northbound turnaround bridge at Leander Road. Contractors urge drivers in the area to use caution and pay attention to road signs as trucks enter and exit the construction zone, and new portions of the roadway and entrance and exit ramps are opened. Temporary road and lane closures are also expected to continue as the project nears completion.

Funding sources: Williamson County road bond with a pass-through financing agreement with TxDOT

6. Hwy. 195 widening


Construction to widen Hwy. 195 to a four-lane divided highway from the Bell/Williamson County line to I-35 is underway. The project is divided into three phases. Phase 1 was completed in Oct. 2014, and Phase 3 from just south of Ronald Reagan Boulevard to I-35 was completed this summer.
Phase 2 from 3.4 miles south of  SH 138 to south of Ronald Reagan is underway and expected to be completed in fall 2016. TxDOT is managing the construction.

Cost: $33.3 million (Phase 2),
$18.8 million (Phase 3)
Funding sources: TxDOT, Williamson County funded the right of way acquisition and utility relocation
