Georgetown fire stations 6 and 7 have broken ground in the past week after City Council approved construction contracts Feb. 12 with O’Haver Contractors of San Antonio.

The contracts include one for $4.6 million to build the city’s future Fire Station No. 6 at 6700 Williams Drive, Georgetown, and another for $5.3 million to build Fire Station No. 7 at 2711 E. University Ave., Georgetown.

Construction of both stations is expected to finish in March 2020.

A cost-sharing agreement between the city and Williamson County Emergency Services District No. 8 provides funding for the new stations.

Fire Station 6 will include three firetruck bays and living accommodations for six firefighters and medics, according to the city.

Fire Station 7 will also include three truck bays but with living quarters for 13 firefighters and medics.
