1. I-35 northbound frontage road

Construction to add northbound I-35 frontage road lanes between Hwy. 29 and SE Inner Loop continues. The project will also add a southbound-to-northbound turnaround bridge at Leander Road and add four noncontiguous sidewalks from SE Inner Loop to Westinghouse Road. In June construction crews closed some of the main lanes of I-35 to complete work on the frontage road entrance and exit ramps as well as driveways along the frontage road, including one for St. David’s Georgetown Hospital. Crews completed the installation of railroad signals at SE Inner Loop, and traffic signals at the new frontage road and Austin Avenue intersections with SE Inner Loop became functional July 1. Contractors urge drivers in the area to use caution and pay attention to road signs as trucks enter and exit the construction zone, and new portions of the roadway and entrance and exit ramps are opened. Temporary road and lane closures are also expected to continue as the project nears completion.
