Georgetown ISD will conduct several routine safety and security procedures prior to the 2022-23 school year as well as some new requirements announced by Gov. Greg Abbott on June 30.

According to Director of Operations and School Safety Heather Stoner, new procedures include weekly exterior door sweeps, a summer targeted partial safety audit and an exterior door safety audit.

Additionally, the summer partial audit includes a list of 50 items outside the annual full audit list that includes the evaluation of each campus' parking lots, cameras, visitor procedures and drills.

The full audit will be conducted in accordance with state requirements by the end of the 2022-23 school year.

Both audits will be conducted by a third party.

Stoner also informed the board that each school's safety and security committee will meet Aug. 2.
