2017 Sunset Movie Series: 'The Jungle Book'
The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department will put on this month’s iteration of the 2017 Sunset Movie Series as well as hold a celebration for Parks and Recreation Month. Before the movie, families are invited to snack on popcorn; have treats from the sponsor, Edible Arrangements; and play games for children followed by a screening of "The Jungle Book." Moviegoers are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnics, but alcoholic beverages are not allowed. The pre-movie celebration begins at 7 p.m., and the movie begins at sunset (about 8:15-8:30 p.m.) Free. San Gabriel Park soccer fields, behind the Recreation Center at 1003 N. Free Cherry Trees
Sweet Eats Fruit Farm is offering free cherry trees to guests; all one needs to provide is the labor, a shovel and a large enough container to transport the tree. 9th Annual Bowl-a-Thon
Spend an afternoon bowling to raise money for homeless dogs and cats through Texas Humane Heroes, a private, nonprofit animal welfare organization that operates two no-kill adoption centers in Austin and Killeen. There will be three bowling competitions that will last two hours each. Noon-6 p.m. $15 per player registration (includes an event T-shirt, bowling shoes and two-hour competition). 'Working on Race and Privilege'
This Courageous Conversations GTX session will focus on history and how it impacts race and privilege today. Guests can join the group for coffee and water to explore race and privilege on a personal level and also delve into learning about systemic and institutional racism.
