Williamson County is seeking input on whether community residents are prepared for natural disasters in a survey available online until July 13.

Local emergency managers are hoping to hear information such as how prepared residents are for tornadoes or house fires, or which community houses are located in flood plains. The county will use the information to update the hazard mitigation plan, according to a county news release.

The Texas Colorado River Floodplain Coalition prepared the original plan to included Williamson County and 16 others, though the updated plan will focus only on hazards identified within the local county. The information provided could help reduce the risk of injury or property damage in the future, according to the news release.

An online questionnaire is meant to gauge the level of knowledge local residents have on disaster issues, and will identify certain locations vulnerable to disasters. The survey consists of 35 questions, plus space for additional comments at the end. The survey is anonymous and is expected to take less than five minutes to complete.
