Early voting results show incumbents Terry Cook and Valerie Covey ahead in the race two races for Williamson County Commissioners as ballot counts come in Nov. 3, according to county data.

As of 7 p.m., 3,402 ballots had been counted for Precinct 1 and 4,473 ballots have been counted for Precinct 3.



Of the ballots cast in early voting for Precinct 1, 28,090 were for Cook, Williamson County Elections Department data shows. This accounts for 58.92% of the total early vote. Her opponent, Nikki Gonzales, has 41.08 % of the vote.

Cook is the Democratic candidate, and Gonzales is the Republican candidate.


Precinct 1 represents southern Williamson County and includes parts of Round Rock and Austin.



Of the ballots cast in early voting for Precinct 3, 47,857 were for Covey, Williamson County Elections Department data shows. This accounts for 62.51% of the total early vote. Her opponent, Sharon Cummings, has 37.49% of the vote.

Covey is the Republican candidate, and Cummings is the Democratic candidate.


Precinct 3 represents northern Williamson County.

County commissioners have policy-making authority and are responsible for building and maintaining the county budget as well as roads and bridges, according to the Texas Association of Counties.

Results are updated as of 7:14 p.m., and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9, if they were sent from outside the U.S.
